Many households tuning in to watch some of their favourite channels may be left struggling to find them on Freeview. Don’t worry, they haven’t been removed they have just been moved to a different channel number as part of a new overhaul. In an update this week, Freeview noted that some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels. They added that customers who use Freeview will need to retune to update their TV and keep their channels and TV Guide up to date.
While almost a dozen channels have moved to a different number on the planner, two broadcasters have simply changed their names, while Freeview has also introduced three new international news channels.
Fans of “That’s 90s” on channel number 80, may be left confused by the new name change to “That’s 70s MCR”.
Meanwhile, “GREAT! Movies action”, available on channel number 42, has been renamed to simply “GREAT! Action”.
Freeview has also launched Al Jazeera in English and Arabic on channel numbers 285 and 286 respectively.
Al Jazeera is a Qatari state-sponsored 24-hour news channel that provides news and analysis on global events, with a focus on middle east events.
Freeview has also added WION news on channel 287, which is an English channel that brings news from South Asia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Here’s the full list of channels moving position
- That’s 60s will move from Channel number 75 to 71
- That’s 70s will move from Channel number 76 to 75
- That’s 80s will move from Channel number 77 to 76
- That’s 60s MCR will move from Channel number 87 to 77
- That’s 80s MCR will move from Channel number 88 to 86
- TV Warehouse will move from channel number 90 to 87
- TV Warehouse +1 will move from channel number 91 to 88
Along with the above changes, Freeview has announced changes to BBC regional channels, which they noted were in line with the BBC’s plan to roll out new HD versions of BBC One on Freeview for all English regions.
The following BBC ONE regional channels will all be moved to channel number 101, depending on your location.

- BBC ONE West MidlandsHD
- BBC ONE London HD
- BBC ONE Yorks HD
- BBC ONE Yorks & Lincs HD
- BBC ONE Channel Islands HD
Freeview says that when the new regional version of BBC One HD launches in each region, the current version of BBC One HD will be closed.
This means you will no longer have to tune away from BBC One HD at channel 101 to your regional version of BBC One on Freeview to watch your regional local news and programming.
