Inside the ‘state of the art’ vaults keeping Rolexes, jewels, and treasure safe

Deep under West Yorkshire, near a JD Wetherspoon and a nail salon, lies a vault full of treasure.

It's not Gringott's Bank or Fort Knox, though. Keighley Vaults is a state-of-the-art security vault using facial recognition, fingerprints, and more to keep punters' valuables under lock and key.

The vaults use so much technology that customers don't even need to interact with staff to access their goods.

The vaults feature more than 1,500 safety deposit boxes closely guarded by the tech without the need for 'human interaction'.

The security business was founded by local man Taliq Hussain in a former Santander location, after someone tried to burgle his house.

Mr Hussain told local news: "People are vulnerable to burglaries when they keep their items in their own homes.

"With the cost of living crisis, there is a potential for the crime rate to go up. What makes us different is the state-of-the-art technology we use. People put cash in the boxes too."

He added: "We offer the chance for our customers to obtain their valuables at their leisure. They don't need to interact with any of our staff members. They don't need to make an appointment. It's the modern way of doing things, there is no human interaction."

"Other businesses of this type have a chaperone when going to the boxes. There is no security guard here, only authorised people can go down there. There are alarms on every box."

Mr Hussain's vaults serve customers in Manchester, Blackburn and Bradford, who use it to store everything from jewellery and gadgets to valuable documents, passports and heirlooms.

The boxes can be rented for 12 months from £115 to £300, and has 24/7 security monitoring.

Secure hi-tech storage facilities like these are just one of the ways people are choosing to protect their belongings. There are also tons of affordable security gadgets out there from Amazon Ring doorbells to smart security cameras that connect to your phone.
