iPhone 15 release date confirmed? Apple announces major September launch event

If your iPhone is on its last legs, good news could be coming soon. Apple has just confirmed the date for its next global launch event and an iPhone 15 looks like it will be the star of the show. The grand unveiling will take place on Tuesday, September 12 with Apple showing off what’s new at its Steve Jobs theatre which sits in the grounds of its stunning HQ in Cupertino, California.

Although the tech giant is keeping the official news close to its chest, the invite has its usual cryptic clue with a message that simply says Wonderlust along with a picture of the metallic-looking Apple logo. This could confirm what many have been speculating with it thought that the firm could bring a new titanium design to its new Pro models.

We will have to wait until September 12 to find out the official news but rumours are rife that an iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be unveiled at the showcase. There may even be the launch of an ultimate iPhone 15 Ultra which could get a huge bump in performance over its siblings.

So what will be new on these devices?

Perhaps the biggest change is that Apple is expected to ditch the lightning port on the iPhone 15 in favour of USB-C charging.

The screen could also see slimmer bezels and there could be a blisteringly quick A17 Bionic processor tucked under the hood which will make this the quickest iPhone ever launched.

Other changes could include longer battery life, improvements to the rear camera and faster refilling thanks to that new port.

Of course, Apple’s keynote won’t just be about iPhones with other devices such as a new Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra also likely to be uncovered.

During the event, we should also find out when iOS 17 will be released to iPhones across the globe and we might hear more about the release date for the Vision Pro headset.
