A 'new' Beatles song is on its way—and even features a digitally resurrected John Lennon.
Sir Paul McCartney has said that 'the last Beatles record' will be released later this year and features the use of artificial intelligence technology to bring the voice of John Lennon back from the dead.
The legendary Beatle told the BBC that an old sample of John Lennon's singing has been processed using AI to 'get it pure' for what will be the band's 'final song'.

Macca called AI an 'interesting thing' and 'something that we're all sort of tackling at the moment'.
Sir Paul told Radio 4's Martha Kearney: "When Peter Jackson did the film (The Beatles) Get Back, where it was us making the Let It Be album, he was able to extricate John's voice from a ropey little bit of cassette and a piano. He could separate them with AI, he'd tell the machine, 'That's a voice, this is a guitar, lose the guitar'.
"So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had that we worked on and we just finished it up. It will be released this year."
"We were able to take John's voice and get it pure through this AI so then we could mix the record as you would do. It gives you some sort of leeway."

Sir Paul added that he thinks there's a 'good side' to AI as well as a 'scary side'.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to digitally augment people's voices.
The latest version of iOS brings a new AI feature called Personal Voice.
It can stitch together a robo-version of your speech based on just 15 minutes of audio which then lets you speak to people without ever opening your mouth.
Apple hopes it will be helpful for people 'at risk of losing their ability to speak'.
