Samsung treats Galaxy Watch owners to get three major changes

If you’ve got a Galaxy Watch strapped to your wrist, Samsung has just announced three major changes coming in a software update that’ll dramatically improve your experience.

For the first time, WhatsApp will be coming to the popular wearable, so you can read and reply to text messages or check the latest topic of discussion in a group chat straight from your wrist. If you own the LTE version of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch wearables, you’ll be able to send and receive WhatsApp messages from the app without your phone – perfect for runners.

Elsewhere, Samsung is bringing Samsung Wallet and Thermo Check to existing watches.

Samsung Wallet app offers users a way to store their credit and debit cards, membership cards, ID cards, flight boarding passes, tickets, and more. Although users have been able to use credit and debit cards via Samsung Pay on smartwatches for some time, this upgrade enables loyalty cards as well as train and plane tickets for the first time.

The Thermo Check app uses an IR-based temperature sensor to measure the temperature of a user’s surroundings, the water they’re swimming in, and the meals they’re about to eat. Due to hardware limitations, that app will only be available on the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

The other two changes will be available on smartwatches running Wear OS 3 or higher …but the most exciting update is still to come. That’s because the next major Galaxy Unpacked event is set to take place on July 26th, 2023 at 12pm BST in Seoul, South Korea.

That’s just a few days time!

Rumours suggest we’ll see brand-new wearables from Samsung at the event, as well as flagship phones and more. Ahead of the launch, those who want to be front of the queue to buy one of the latest-and-greatest smartwatches and smartphones from Samsung can sign-up for an exclusive deal, which includes £150 off the upcoming devices.

Register your interest for Galaxy Unpacked and get access to exclusive offers. Reserve the next Galaxy products and get up to £150 off.

Those who pop their names and email addresses into the site will also be entered into a prize draw where they could win a £500 Samsung gift card to spend on whatever they like.

Although nothing has yet been officially revealed, it looks almost certain that we’ll see the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 unleashed during the event on July 26th with rumours suggesting that they will be thinner, faster and get longer battery life.
