Samsung’s Galaxy faces new battle – Honor’s Android rival comes to UK

Samsung might make some of the most popular foldables on the planet but its rivals aren’t going down without a fight. Google recently unleashed its Pixel Fold, Motorola returned with its Razr and now HONOR is about to bring its super skinny Magic V2 to more markets across the globe including the UK. The Chinese firm has just announced the launch of this foldable device at the IFA technology show in Berlin and it certainly looks impressive.

Just like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5, the HONOR Magic V2 features a standard 6.43-inch display on the front that opens like a book to reveal a massive 7.92-inch OLED panel.

HONOR has worked hard to make its new smartphone easier to handle with it now thinner and lighter than anything they’ve launched before. In fact, HONOR is boasting that it’s now the thinnest foldable in the world.

Once shut it measures in at 9.9mm thin – that’s compared to Samsung’s Z Fold5 which is 13.4mm thick. Depite its thin design, HONOR is promising that the Magic will be made of tough stuff with it featuring a first-of-its-kind Super-light Titanium Hinge. This, they reckon, will allow it to withstand 400,000 folds which should easily be enough to last the lifetime of the device.

One the rear case is 50MP main camera along with a 50MP ultra-Wide lens and a 20MP telephoto camera.

Head inside and a 5,000mAh battery should keep the screen glowing all day and when things do run dry it can be filled at a rapid rate thanks to HONOR’s 66W Wired SuperCharge technology.

There’s currently no word on a UK price or when it will launch but hopefully there will be more news in the coming weeks. Expect to see it in stores before Christmas.

Along with revealing the Magic V2 release date, HONOR has also showed off a new concept device called V Purse.

The whacky call maker folds up and mimics a handbag with accessories that attach to the case to make looks less like a phone and more like a piece a piece of luggage.

HONOR says, “the smartphone is to be worn effortlessly over one’s shoulder like an ordinary purse or handbag, enabling it to become the new “it” bag of the future.”
