Tesla bigwigs urge Elon Musk to ‘stop wasting time’ posting memes on Twitter

Since becoming 'chief Twit', Elon Musk has ruffled plenty of feathers—not least among Twitter users.

But one group in particular is growing impatient with his focus on his newly-acquired social media platform.

Investors at Musk's electric car company, Tesla, are said to be growing tired with Musk's Twitter obsession. Not just how much time he spends at the company, mind—but how much time he spends posting updates on the platform itself.

Tesla shareholders told Bloomberg they have sold their shares due to Elon Musk's controversial tweets, as he posts everything from memes to political takes at 'erratic' hours of the day.

This includes a tweet at 1:44AM on Thursday where he weighed in on the New York Time's union strikes, calling them 'Woke v Woke'.

Well, it looks like Tesla investors have had enough. Business analyst Trevor Goodwin claims he has sold around £25,000 ($30,000) worth of Tesla shares because of Musk's behaviour online.

Goodwin said: "It's almost like he's abandoned us in favour of his new mission."

Meanwhile, investor Earl Banning said Musk has "lost a lot of us", and while he doesn't plan to sell his shares, says Musk's behaviour is 'so unnecessary'.

Banning said: "You've got a great car company—just stop it."

Musk briefly lost his title as world's richest man earlier this week, after his net worth fell by more than $100 billion over the last year.

He was superseded by Louis Vuitton boss Bernard Arnault, but with both their net worth being based heavily on shares, Musk quickly took back the top spot.

When Musk overtook Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as world's richest man, he sent Bezos a silver medal.
