Since many of us use WhatsApp as a go-to texting platform, the number of contacts we have and groups we're all likely to be part of – for friends, family, work and sometimes for no reason at all – we're sure to have sent and received an astonishing number of messages.
Just by going into the WhatsApp settings, you can find out the exact number of texts you've sent and received on the app. Here's what you need to do.
How to use WhatsApp to find out your texting habits?
Everyone's WhatsApp settings has a hidden page, which logs how many messages have been sent between you and other individuals as well as groups.
This fun messaging counter feature can be accessed via the Settings. Then, follow these steps:
- First, hit the Account tab and then click Network Usage
- In the Network Usage tab, you'll see a number appear next to each conversation you've had on the message platform. It's as simple as that!
This number you see is the total sum of messages that have been sent in a private or group chat. To find out how many texts you've exchanged with one person, open their chat and you'll be given a breakdown of stats.
The message counter feature also lets you find out how much storage each chat is taking up. For this go to Data and Storage Usage in Settings. Then, click Storage Usage at the bottom.
This opens up a list of all your chats on the app, put in the order of storage space taken up. So, the people at the top of the list are the ones you might be talking to most or sharing things like photos and videos.

WhatsApp is working on a "search messages" feature, which enables users to search messages on WhatsApp from the contact info page of other users.
This new feature – which is beta testing – will be particularly useful to look up specific messages from an individual chat than having to scroll endlessly to find one single message.
If you'd like to test the feature with WhatsApp beta, you can do that via Google Play for Android.
Simply search for WhatsApp and scroll till you see "Become a Beta Tester". Then tap the "I'm In" button and click on join to confirm. However, joining WhatsApp beta is more complicated as it has limited capacity.
