Fans of the FIFA football gaming franchise on the Xbox One were given a huge surprise today, as the soon-to-be-released latest instalment of the game appeared to have been released an entire month early

But it was soon revealed that it was not supposed to happen.

The odd glitch – which allowed eager gamers to play the entire FIFA 23 game a full month before its actual release date – was spotted earlier this morning (August 30), with footage of the game quickly doing the rounds on social media.

The game, which is being developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania, is actually the final game under the legendary FIFA franchise name after football's governing body decided to cut ties with EA Sports at the end of this season.

And it looks like the game is going out with a bang having been released early by mistake.

It is not clear exactly how the Xbox One version of the game was downloaded and installed so early, but it was only available to those with a pre-order of it.

It was also available to those with the Xbox Series X/S, too, but only the Xbox One version of it – not the upgraded X/S version.

It is possible that the glitch could have been connected to a FIFA 22 update which went live earlier today, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Twitch users were seen streaming the early game, before their accounts were banned, while one user on Twitter actually took a deep dive into the song list.

From the footage they posted, the new soundtrack will feature hits from Gorillaz, Nathan Day, Bad Bunny, Bianca Costa and tons more.

FIFA's classic Ultimate Team mode was also available to play, with users quick to dissect player ratings.

Legendary, yet controversial Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo was a 91 in FIFA 22, but has dropped down to a 90 in this year's game, while one of the best strikers in the world in Manchester City's Erling Haaland is seemingly only rated as 88.

It is possible that the ratings could change by the official release date of September 30, however.

The glitch does now appear to have been fixed, as users attempting to play it are not allowed to.
