You can claim a FREE Galaxy Watch today, but Samsung offer ends soon

Samsung is giving away its latest Galaxy Watch 6 – which only launched last month and sells for £319 on its online store – for free to anyone who adds its Galaxy Z Fold 5 to their online basket. But this incredible giveaway isn’t around for much longer.

Yes, Samsung has confirmed that it will bring the promotion to a close at 11.59pm on Thursday (September 28, 2023) so you’ll need to place an order fast if you want to take delivery of a smartwatch for free. This offer – easily one of the best Galaxy Z Fold 5 deals we’ve seen in a while – is only available via the Samsung online store.

And that’s not the only deal available on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 right now.

Galaxy Watch 6 is available for free with any Galaxy Z Fold 5 orders from the Samsung store. This brand-new smartwatch, worth £319 when bought separately, includes a bigger screen and faster internals. It can track your sleep, steps, heart-rate, skin temperature, menstrual cycle, and even perform an ECG exam from your wrist!

As well as a free Galaxy Watch 6, Samsung has slashed £100 off the cost of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The discount is only available on the model with 512GB of built-in storage and 12GB of RAM, which drops from £1,849 down to £1,749.

Best of all, it’s possible to combine both promotions – so you can enjoy a £100 discount on your brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and get sent a new Galaxy Watch 6 worth £319 in the post.

If you’re willing to part with your current handset, you can secure a discount of up to £510 when you trade-in. Samsung gives you 7 days after its freepost packaging arrives through the letterbox to mail off your current phone. That should give you plenty of time to transfer your apps and personal data from one phone to the other.

With the £100 discount and trade-in deals, you can plunge the cost of the 512GB model of the foldable from £1,849 down to just £1,239. Samsung offers payment plans over 24 months with 0% APR for those who would rather spread out the costs of the flagship phone.

In our Galaxy Z Fold 5 review, we praised the folding handset for its redesigned hinge mechanism, which has shaved off weight and thickness compared to its predecessor. Samsung has also increased the brightness of the AMOLED screen and added new features for its S Pen stylus, which can be used for handwritten notes, annotating webpages, and drawing.

Aside from these tweaks, the rest of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 remains largely unchanged. You’ll still find an edge-to-edge 6.2-inch Cover Screen on the outside, 7.6-inch AMOLED folding touchscreen that unfurls like a paperback, and six cameras just like the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Instead of a radical redesign, Galaxy Z Fold 5 is all about small refinements to improve the overall experience.

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy – a customised version of the chipset designed specifically for Samsung devices. That’s the same processor you’ll find inside the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. In the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung says the Qualcomm-built chipset unlocks speedier performance and longer battery life.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 arrives with a slew of improvements, including a bigger and brighter screen.

Yes, Samsung has slimmed the bezels to squeeze bigger screens – 20% larger, according to the official figures – into both of these watches without dramatically altering the footprint of these devices when on your wrist. Galaxy Watch 6 is available with either 40mm or 44mm screens.

Better still, the increased screen real estate doesn’t mean the new smartwatch will take up more space on your wrist. That’s because Samsung has managed to shave 30% from the bezel compared to its predecessor.

Galaxy Watch 6 tops out at a peak brightness of 2,000nits – matching the Apple Watch Series 9 and first-generation Apple Watch Ultra – which means everything on-screen will stay visible outdoors, even in direct sunlight. Samsung has increased the size of the battery inside the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic to support the bigger brighter displays.

Lastly, Samsung has redesigned its proprietary quick-release clasp for straps on the latest generation of Galaxy Watch. Don’t worry – these tech-packed timepieces are still compatible with any standard 20mm or 22mm strap depending on your model. But if you’re using the Samsung-designed bands, these now use a button to detach from the watch, replacing the fiddly toggle found on earlier models.

If you need to quickly switch straps (handy if you want to ditch a soggy strap after a swim, smarten the timepiece for a formal occasion, or colour-match to your outfit) the process is much easier and faster on the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic, Samsung says.

There is a slew of other improvements to the new smartwatches, including support for Samsung Wallet (which replaces Samsung Pay) to bring boarding passes and loyalty cards to your wrist for the first time, warnings if you’ve had an elevated heart-rate while stationary for more than 10-minutes, a clever skin temperature sensor, and enhanced sleep coaching that puts sleep insights into action with tailored instructions, tips, and reminders.
