Abbey Clancy’s teenager sister Elle reveals shocking health battle that almost ended her modelling career

The 18-year-old has recently landed her first big campaign for Faith at Debenhams, but her career almost didn’t get off the ground when she gained weight, her hair started to fall out and her skin flared up.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the Liverpudlian opened up about the scary illness for the first time, revealing: “I was quite unwell.

"It was a really stressful time and I felt terrible. I put on two stone and it was such a struggle to lose it.

“My skin flared up really badly and my hair started to fall out. I didn’t know why or what was happening to me.”

Fortunately the beauty, who started working when she was just 13, managed to turn things around after overhauling her life.

She added: “I changed my diet completely and embarked on a fitness routine. I don’t really drink either.

“I started a mission to be happy and healthy and it was a massive turning point for me.”

These days Elle, who says her sister Abbey, 32, is her “biggest inspiration”, works out every day and is brimming with self- confidence.

Elle is the latest talent in the Clancy clan to emerge, joining brothers Sean, a professional footballer, and John, lead singer with the indie band Judas.

Abbey meanwhile has a hugely successful career as a model, after coming runner-up on Britain’s Next Top Model in 2006.

She recently welcomed her third child, Johnny, with husband Peter Crouch – she is already mum to Sophia and Liberty.

The star, who is currently a judge on Britain’s Next Top Model, recently revealed her six-year-old daughter Sophia is desperate to sign up for the programme and undertake various tasks in a bid to be named the champion.

She told OK! Magazine: "Sophia already wants to be on Britain's Next Top Model. She's like 'How old do you have to be to get on?'”

Although Sophia is too young to start modelling Abbey believes her oldest child will boast a successful career in the fashion industry, if she decides to follow in her footsteps, because she has inherited her father's long legs.
