Barbarians has just arrived on Netflix for its second outing and the Roman troops are more powerful than ever. Despite this, Thusnelda (played by Jeanne Goursaud) and the Germanic tribes are not backing down yet. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the actress, including her age.

How old is Jeanne Goursaud?

The second season of the German historical drama is set a year after the great war between the Romans and the Germanic tribes.

Thusnelda is back as one of the show’s main characters and she wanted revenge on the Romans for nearly killing her brother.

She ended up marrying Arminius (Laurence Rupp) and together they led troops into battle and defeated the Romans.

The actress is younger in real life than she appears in the series, as she was born on April 4, 1996. This makes her 26 years old.

She was born in Pinneberg, Germany, and can also speak French.

The star attended a children’s drama school in Hamburg and one of her first acting roles was in 2012.

She became known for her role in the series In Your Dreams and went on to star in the German comedy series The Teacher.

The actress is also recognised for her film roles, having starred in Clint Eastwood’s 15:17 to Paris.

Up until 2018 she played Janina in the award-winning web series, Wishlist and one of her most recent projects is the film The Magic Flute.

The actress took to Instagram to express her excitement over the release of the new season of Barbarians.

Sharing her character’s speech, she said: “12 moons, 12 moons you’ve been sitting around waiting for it all to be over.

“You haven’t learned anything for 12 moons. Where were you when we faced the Romans?

“You sat on your lazy a***s waiting for it all to be over. But you know what? It’s far from over. It’s just getting started.”

Back in 2020, the actress opened up about what attracted her to the series and she said the scripts fascinated her.

Speaking to Stream Wars she said: “I thought it was great that there was also such a strong female role.

“Because that was not normal for that time. I was pleased that we were able to tell such a story from the perspective of a woman.

“Because this makes it something different and not just a story about men from that time, as it usually is.”

Away from acting, she was the face of Johnson & Johnson cosmetics brand Bebe Young Care.

The actress splits her time between Cologne and Berlin when she is not working.

On Instagram, she gave insight into some of her other passions, which include supporting human rights organisations.

She is also an ambassador for German Dream, an education programme providing opportunities for students.

Barbarians is on Netflix now.
