Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, 51, is part of an ITV special which will see spellbinding acts go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned the nation’s greatest magician. The show, named Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician, is being hosted by presenter and magician Stephen Mulhern instead of Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. Ahead of the special airing, Amanda described Stephen as the “perfect” person to host the extravaganza.
Amanda shared with ITV: “Ant and Dec, they are the linchpin of the whole thing but when they said Stephen Mulhern, it made sense.
“I love him, he came and did his stuff and was brilliant.
“Ant and Dec are really close with him so they won’t mind me saying this, but he was the perfect host.
“He was the right host for this job and I think everyone will agree it’s better having someone with the knowledge of what the acts are doing rather than just commentary.
“Stephen was up for everything and because of his background in magic, it worked really, really well.”
Amanda, who is on the judging panel with David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Penn Jillette, said Stephen will always be part of the Britain’s Got Talent family.
When asked if Stephen was excited to be in charge for the evening, Amanda said: “He was, he’s so good at his job, but he had to put up with all the banter from us.”
She claimed he loved every minute of the role on the special but he did not show off any of his own magic tricks.

“He was a brilliant assistant for the acts, he went full Debbie McGee on us,” Amanda exclaimed.
“He was very much like Debbie McGee. In fact, it was uncanny.”
Ant and Dec had to withdraw from the special after suddenly contracting Covid-19.
Stephen told The Mirror: “So I got a call saying ‘Ant and Dec have asked, if you would stand in for them?’
