Antiques Roadshow guest stunned at value of ‘creepy dolls’
An Antiques Roadshow guest was left stunned after finding out how much a pair of dolls were worth after saying he wasn’t interested in them.
The self-professed collector made an appearance on the US version of the hit show and admitted he bought the two wooden dolls for only $100 (£82).
He explained that due to not being interested in dolls, he almost passed on the offer.
Speaking to antiques expert Julie Scott, he said: “I’ve brought in two very old wooden dolls.
“I don’t know a great deal about them. I’m very curious what you can tell me about them.

“I’ve been collecting since I was a child. I buy and trade and I love stuff. And a woman asked me if I wanted to buy some dolls, and I said, ‘No, I don’t care so much about dolls’.
“She said, ‘They’re very, very old, maybe you could look at them’. I understand she inherited them and she didn’t know anything about them,” he explained.
In response, Julie revealed the real value was much higher than the $100 dollars he paid for them.
She said the big doll was owned by wealthy children or children of royalty and was made with a human hair wig.

Julie expressed: “She probably would be valued in the range of $15,000 (£12.3k) to $20,000 (£16.4k).”
The guest was left shocked after finding out the real value and couldn’t quite believe his ears.
He responded: “Really? Oh my. For the two dolls, I paid $100.”
The antiques expert replied: “You had quite the bargain.”
