BBC Breakfast star Emma Vardy has shared an exciting announcement with her fans.

The 42-year-old presenter is set to welcome her first child with husband Aaron Adams.

She has been a well-known face on BBC shows for many years and has worked as the Ireland Correspondent but had been taking on BBC Breakfast in recent weeks.

She had taken over hosting duties from co-star Nina Warhurst, who was on maternity leave following the birth of her third child.

Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Emma revealed she will be absent from the show and showed off her blossoming baby bump.

In the picture, the broadcaster can be seen sitting on top of two industrial washing machines as she noted that she did not know the gender of her soon-to-be born baby.

Holding up a blue t-shirt and a pink t-shirt, Emma showed off her blossoming bump in a figure-hugging green dress.

In the caption for her post, Emma wrote: "Well that's me off on mat leave!! Resigned to an eternity of housewife chores & dirty laundry. Career girl out. (And if u believe that you'll believe anything).

"Celebrated the start of this new chapter with cocktails at this perfectly disguised speakeasy!! #TheWashhouse."

Unsurprisingly, many of Emma's follower rushed to share their support for the soon-to-be mum.

One fan wrote: "All the best Emma … come back soon, you’re one of the best journalists on the Beeb."

Another added: "Good luck, it was nice having you on BBC Breakfast."

Somebody else said: "Good luck I am sure it will all go well, see you back on the news in the new year, Don't forget you can have a career and be a mum and housewife don't put yourself out to grass."

Emma has been keeping fans updated with her pregnancy journey since she announced her baby news announced in May.
