BBC Breakfast viewers stunned by presenters outfit blunder during Queen's death coverage | The Sun

BBC Breakfast viewers were left stunned and unimpressed by a presenter's outfit choice during coverage of The Queen's death.

Her Majesty passed away "peacefully" aged 96 last Thursday at Balmoral Castle.

The nation has been in official mourning since then as they grieve the loss of the monarch and her 70-year reign on the thrown.

News programmes have been scrambling to keep their rolling coverage going since last week.

Presenters have all been seen dressed in fully black outfits as a mark of respect to The Queen and the Royal Family.

Black suits and dresses are always on standby in news studios as there is a strict protocol following the death of a member of the Royals.

However, during today's BBC Breakfast, viewers noticed one presenter had a blunder with their outfit.

Tim Muffett fronted part of the programme from Lambeth Bridge in central London, talking to members of the public who were queuing to view The Queen's coffin.

But viewers at home spotted that the broadcaster was not wearing a black tie – instead a navy blue one with a dark grey suit jacket.

Tim then swapped ties and donned a purple one for his next live later in the morning.

Purple is a colour strongly associated with the Royal Family and it's likely Tim chose the tie as a nod to Her Majesty.

However, viewers still took to social media to ask the show why he wasn't dressed fully in black on their screens.

"@BBCBreakfast please could you tell me why Tim Muffett isn’t wearing a dark tie?," said one user.

Another said: "Tim Muffett obviously forgot his black tie today #BBCBreakfast!"

"He’s consistently not worn black. Why is this," questioned a third viewer.

Tim joined the BBC almost 20 years ago and has been working on flagship show BBC Breakfast since 2005 as a correspondent.

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am daily on BBC One and iPlayer.
