BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst unveils kid’s sweet name after ‘difficult’ birth

BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst has revealed the name of her newborn daughter as she opened up about her difficult birthing experience.

On Thursday (July 27), the broadcaster took to Instagram to share a series of sweet snaps of the little one across the first four weeks of her life.

Alongside the adorable collage of snaps, the mum-of-three introduced her loyal legion of fans to their daughter Nance just weeks after she announced her arrival.

In the caption, Nina also shared an update on her pregnancy journey, confessing that her daughter’s delivery was “tougher” than her previous two births and her recovery period has felt “longer” too.

She wrote: “4 snaplets of me and my Nance from each of the 4 weeks we’ve watched her slowly waking up to this world.

“We’ve lost all sense of time as we’ve been feeding and snoozing and gazing and toe-stroking and head-smelling and marvelling at the absolute wonder of it all.

“It’s he *haaaaard* tho! A harder pregnancy. A tougher delivery and a longer recovery… maybe it’s being older… but also I'd somehow forgotten.”

Nina then gave fans a glimpse inside the difficulties she struggled with during the fist four weeks as a new mum again.

The newsreader added: “I’d forgotten the anxiety of labour moving from the plan. I’d forgotten the swollen scars, bleeding breasts, mastitis fever, hormonal crashes, clots, constipation, codeine withdrawal, exhaustion… And this time the added funk of a nosebleed (y tho?!)

“But part of getting older is getting better acquainted with your limits and letting go. I'm better at stopping and saying no to visitors and yes to a messy house and yes to asking for help.

“(A turning point was full snot crying down the phone to the GP – resulting in a glorious prescription of kind words, antibiotics, painkillers and a follow up call about how I was coping).”

Despite a difficult first month, the TV presenter reassured her fans that she and her baby are doing much better and enjoying time together.

She explained: We are on the right track – for now and enjoying life in the slow lane… usually with Australian MAFS & Italian red drinks… what a combo.

“Women and their bodies (parents or not) are complex and resilient that it fills me with immense pride. I can’t wait to tell you all about it my sweet girl.”

Fans were quick to shower the new mum with support in the comments section, with one user writing: “I love your brutal honestly! You’ve got this.”

Another agreed: “Beautiful photos, you’re all gorgeous. Keep going, it’s the toughest job in the world.”
