BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent was left red-faced when her beloved morning programme teased her upcoming ballroom routine for the Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing.
On Monday’s (December 18) visit to the BBC studios, the 52-year-old welcomed viewers back to the show to discuss some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines. This included the latest update in the Israel-Hamas war, the implementation of the XL Bully ban in the new year and the special Christmas performance by the Dementia Choir.
But it’s fair to say one of the most talked about story on the show this morning was the highly anticipated Strictly Come Dancing final. This weekend, former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her dance partner Vito Coppola lift the glitterball trophy.
Despite the jam-packed series, the beloved ballroom competition is set to return with a bang on Christmas Day for a festive special with another star-studded line-up – including a BBC Breakfast star. Joining the presenting duo on the sofa this morning was Sally Nugent’s dance partner Graziano Di Prima as they teased their upcoming foxtrot.
The brunette beauty could as elegant as ever as she danced across the famous ballroom with the Italian hunk. She could be seen wearing a glamorous red sequin gown which featured a dramatic asymmetrical strap and a daring thigh-high slit.
Sally teamed the ensemble with a pair of silver heels and added a dramatic silver hair pin to her hair which was pinned in a chic low bun at the nape of her neck. When asked about the experience, the mum-of-one admitted: "It was such an experience, I perhaps wasn't the best pupil.
"I don't know if I was really good," she added as Graziano argued: "You did four pivots! You did brilliantly." It was at this point that the TV host confessed how much she hated the pivots and even had "nightmares" about the routine.
She went on: "Oh God the pivots, I had nightmares about the pivots" as the pro dancer chuckled as he imitated her complaining: "I'm dizzy, I'm dizzy" as Sally fumed: "I needed a lie down."
"I did love it, the performance was magical, wasn't it? It was really great fun and we were with really lovely people as well. An incredible group of people."
Her co-host Jon couldn't help but beam with pride as he shared how much the TV star had been nervous in the lead up to the performance. He gushed: "I'm so proud of you!
"I knew how much you'd been worrying about it because it was tough, it was hard work – but what a thing to be able to look back on. You were incredible!" Sally went on to reveal that she also got some additional coaching from Graziano's wife Giada Lini who is also a ballroom dancer.
The broadcaster admitted: "I listened to everything she said, she is the queen" as Jon joked: "So you got double coaching? Now we know how you got so good."
He concluded the interview by adding: "We're so proud of Sally and everything she did, thank you. We can't wait to watch it in full, the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, so no pressure."
Sally reassured him: "It's fine, everyone will have had a drink by then" as she sheepishly moved on to the next segment of the show.
