BBC confirms final episodes of beloved comedy series – and they're just weeks away | The Sun

THE BBC has confirmed when the final ever episodes of a beloved comedy series will air – and it's just weeks away.

Fans of comedy Ghosts were left shocked earlier this year when news broke that the BBC One hit would be coming to an end.

And bosses have now revealed that the fifth and final series will begin on Friday, October 6.

It comes after the team announced in March that they had decided to "wave goodbye to the inhabitants of Button House".

The Sun understands the Beeb wanted to continue with the series but producers instead decided to bring the show to a close.

Ghosts sees a young couple inherit a rickety mansion in the countryside with an idea of developing it into a hotel.

However, a group of spirits are reluctant to leave and restlessly haunt the abode.

Meanwhile, one star of the show recently took to social media to blast The National Television Awards.

Kiell Smith-Bynoe, 34, was left disappointed when Ghosts lost out to spin-off show Young Sheldon at the annual award ceremony.

Kiell, who plays central character Mike Cooper, shared his outrage online when the comedy award winner was announced.
