EastEnders producer Chris Clenshaw has let slip a massive clue that Stacey Slater might be the Christmas killer because of her dress.
On Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor's wedding day this Christmas, one of the show's male characters will be dramatically killed off, in scenes teased in special flash-forward scenes earlier this year.
Right now, there are seven men assumed to be potential victims, with their fates remaining tightly under wraps.
Viewers will already know that Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Linda Carter, Suki Panesar, Stacey, and Sharon are tied up in the mystery, but it currently remains unclear just who the victim and murderer are.
Speaking to The Mirror, Chris has hinted at the importance of colour and costume for this storyline, with each of the women sporting a different coloured dress for the occasion.
He explained: "They're their colours, aren't they really? We did have a very early meeting – like last October.
"We discussed at one point – there was an idea that they were all going to wear different shades of red but then it just didn't feel right. For various reasons, and actually we didn't land on that and we went with individual colours that suit their characters."
In the flash-forward scenes, Denise is seen in green, Linda in pink, Suki in blue, Sharon in white and Kathy in purple. However, Stacey Slater stands out in a sparkly red gown, with Chris's revelation perhaps hinting that she could be the Christmas killer.
Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, recently gave some clues about her character's actions leading up to the death.
"She's obviously got a connection to Nish through Eve, and she suspects that he might have had a part to play in her disappearance," the actress teased.
"Ravi is also linked to that storyline so God knows how Stacey would react if she found out about their showdown in the woods. Stacey and Eve are like sisters and she will do whatever it takes to protect her and vice versa.
"There is also some more drama on the horizon for Stacey, but that's all I'm saying for now," she said, hinting at Jack and Stacey's affair.
She added: "I've had a lot of people ask since the flash-forward aired in February, and I have to say, in the last few weeks it has been pretty difficult to answer as I know the outcome so I've had to work really hard on my poker face!"
