BBC Strictly viewers demand change to live shows after stupid feature

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left “frustrated” by the contestant videotapes shown before each live performance.

As the BBC One show welcomed the competition’s remaining couples and the judges to the dancefloor, the Halloween special got underway on Saturday evening.

But before the celebs and their professional dance partners perform they are introduced with a VT of their behind-the-scenes moments from over the past week.

The clips include snippets from their Strictly rehearsals as they also speak to the camera about how preparations for the live show are coming along.

Some viewers are now insisting the VT’s take up too much time of the Strictly live shows and if the feature was cut, then there would be enough time for the results to be announced on the same night.

As fans will know, the Strictly results are announced on BBC One on a Sunday but the episode is actually filmed on Saturday night.

Taking to X (Twitter), one person wrote: “Halloween week has to be my least fav #Strictly. So cringy and the VT’s are terrible.”

While a second chimed in with: “Cut the program down by about half an hour and get rid of the c**p VT’s. Then they’d be able to put the results show on the same night #Strictly.”

A third asked: “Is anyone actually entertained by the skits in the VTs? I think they’re funny maybe 5 percent of the time they try to be funny…#Strictly.”

A total of 10 couples are left in this year’s Strictly competition following Amanda Abbington’s departure before Saturday’s live show.

Amanda, who was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, dropped out of the series for “personal reasons”.

Her last routine viewers saw was the Foxtrot which impressed the judges who awarded her a score of 31.
