Romesh Ranganathan, the host of The Weakest Link has claimed BBC Breakfast presenting duo Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty have a problem with each other. The TV personalities often poke fun at each other on screen, but the comedian believes there is more than meets the eye. The quiz host gave his insight to Express.co.uk after hosting the show where Charlie and Naga were contestants.
When asked whether there were any memorable interactions from the next series, Romesh was sure of the answer.
He replied: “I would say daytime TV. Daytime TV is cuddly and warm and you know, relaxed and chilled.
“That’s not how the daytime TV episode went down. I mean, it got competitive.”
When asked who in particular he meant, Romesh declared: “I would say Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt have got beef.

“If anything, if you love and respect someone you do not want to lose to them. We definitely saw a lot of that in the episode.”
The comedian also remarked: “I think it doesn’t matter when you come into the arena of the Weakest Link, it doesn’t matter how solid you were going into it.
“I would say to people I am going into the [daytime TV] episode thinking it was going to be warm and cuddly and maybe I am going to have to gee them up a bit to get them competitive.
“If anything I had to rein them in. I would definitely look out for that one as a potential TV relationship put under jeopardy as a result of the quiz.”
The comedian picked up on the interesting traits of the two popular presenters which was there for viewers to see as recently as this week.
After a break away from BBC screens the pair rejoined the red sofas of their home on the breakfast show.
On Thursday, Naga was introducing a link about a marathon runner named Uncle Chen who smokes while running marathons.
During the comical segment, Naga asked Charlie: “I just want to introduce you to Uncle Chen but before I tell you about Uncle Chen, if you were to think of a marathon runner, kind of what do you think?”
Charlie began coughing before he could answer, leading Naga to reply: “Oh goodness! That’s quite ironic actually.”
After Charlie took a gulp of his hot drink, his co-host asked: “Are you alright Charlie?”
She continued: “He finished about 570th out of 1,500 competitors and went round puffing a cigarette the whole way around. Smoked the whole way around.”
While in a daze, Charlie asked: “Does he smoke normally?”
After the pair discussed the bizarre achievement, in typical style he added: “And how odd that story prompted me to have a coughing fit. Strangely apt.”
Romesh will be taking over from Anne Robinson for the reboot of The Weakest Link for his second series.
Anne presented the show from 2000 for 17 years on the BBC.
Upon renewing his role he announced: “I’m delighted to be doing another series, partly because it’s a fun show and the response has been amazing.”
He added: “But, mainly to avoid ‘Turns out Romesh was The Weakest Link’ headlines.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty for comment.
