CASUALTY star Charles Venn confirmed character Jacob Masters' emotional exit from the BBC medical drama.
Viewers were left shocked by recent episodes of Casualty where Jacob made the difficult decision to leave the ED.
This comes after he was unable to cope or move forward in the wake of Robyn's death.
Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote: "Guys, what a tough decision Jacob’s had to make, this particular journey has been unforgettable, so excited for what’s next."
He ended with: "Casualty fans you are incredible."
Viewers were left devastated by Charles annoucement and exit.

Charles has played Jacob in the show since 2015, making it hard for viewers to say goodbye.
But is it goodbye for good?
Some fans are not certain whether or not this is a permanent or temporary exit from the show, as one viewer asked: "@ChuckyVenn Please tell me Jacob has not left forever. He will be back won't he? #Casualty."
Another wrote: "This can't be the end for Jacob, surely? We need to find out more about Omo's message from beyond the grave, for one thing! But mostly, because I can't cope without seeing Jacob on my TV every week!"

Previously on the BBC medical drama, Jacob was blamed for Robyn's death by his colleagues.
Jacob had encouraged Robyn to stay behind and work another shift even though she was already exhausted.
He then had a row with Robyn just before she died in a tragic car accident, which former colleague Marty reminded him of.
Robyn actress Amanda Henderson is leaving the show permanently as her character has been killed off.
She also recently opened up about exiting Casualty.
In an Instagram post, Amanda posted a decorated clapper-board celebrating her tenure on the soap.
In the caption, she wrote: "10 years of you Robyn! It's been a pleasure."
Fans rushed to the comment section to express that she will be missed on the show.
One said: "You will be missed!"
A second wrote: "Gutted 😢. Wishing you all the very best Amanda & hope to see on our screens in something new very soon."
