Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) gasped with shock in Emmerdale upon receiving some big news over a phone call, which has completely turned her world upside down.
The Woolpack owner was sitting in the living room of the house she live in with boyfriend Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), making a mobile for a cot for pregnant Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) when she received the call.
‘Are you sure?’, she exclaimed, evidently hurt by what she’d been told, struggling to come to terms with the revelation.
The question is: just what has Charity been told? What’s more, who was it that made the phone call to relay this seemingly devastating news?
The jury is still out on both accounts, but whatever the news is, it’s big, with Charity’s world set to implode as a result.
‘Charity is emotionally vulnerable at the news she’s been given’, actress Emma Atkins told Metro.co.uk.
‘There’s a lot of anger to begin with that boils up to the surface. When she starts talking about what’s happened it comes out quite vitriolic, angry and bitter.’
The subsequent episode, of which you can sneak a peek with our video preview below, will see Charity steal Caleb Milligan’s (William Ash) car keys and set off on a joyride with Cain (Jeff Hordley).

Mackenzie, meanwhile, reckons Charity’s devastation is a result of her having discovered the truth about his one-night-stand with Chloe – and the fact that he’s the baby’s father.
But are Mack’s theories correct? Or is there something more heartbreaking going on here?
Emmerdale continues Thursday February 2 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
