Charity to spend Christmas behind bars after attacking Amy in Emmerdale?

It was baby Esther’s christening in tonight’s Emmerdale and Noah (Jack Downham) had a firm warning for his mum, Charity (Emma Atkins) – ‘Don’t stir anything.’

With tensions running high between Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Amy Natalie Ann Jamieson) following the revelations about Chas and Al (Michael Wildman)’s affair, Noah knew that with his mum, Amy and Chloe (Jessie Elland) all at the church there was more than a risk that things could kick off.

He wasn’t wrong. Trouble was already brewing after Chas invited Amy and Chloe to the Woolpack before the service with Amy calling Chas ‘scum.’ Amy was furious at the way Chas had comforted Kerry (Laura Norton) after Al’s death knowing that she was the indirect cause of it.

Chas said that she’d needed Kerry, because she was the only other person who was grieving for Al like she was. Even Charity looked gobsmacked at that, and Amy called Chas a ‘selfish cow’ and a ‘sick and twisted liar.’ When Chas said she would start paying back the money that Al scammed from Kerry to buy the house, Charity again got involved, saying Kerry had been a ‘gullible idiot.’

As things threatened to escalate Charity eventually agreed to a truce, ‘Because we can’t be glaring daggers at each other over the font.’ But that’s exactly what happened as Amy and Charity continued sniping during the service. When Charity clasped her hands together in prayer, Amy let out a snort, saying she had ‘zero moral compass.’ As Amy squared up to Charity, Charity lunged at her and knocked the font over.

With the christening in disarray and poor Amelia (Daisy Campbell) in tears because her baby’s special day had been ruined, Charity and Amy continued to bicker outside. And then the verbal sparring became physical, with Amy pushing Charity and Charity retaliating – unfortunately witnessed by PC Swirling (Andy Moore).

With Amy determined to press charges, PC Swirling had no option but to arrest her – much to the delight of Amy and Chloe.

Meanwhile Noah had rescued Amelia’s day by arranging another christening for Esther – this time with only him and Amelia, Dan (Liam Fox) and Lydia (Karen Blick) in attendance. This was obviously a much calmer affair and was exactly what Amelia wanted for her baby. Noah once again proved how responsible and thoughtful he’s become.

But what about his mum? Will she be facing Christmas behind bars?
