Hallmark Channel’s hit romance drama Chesapeake Shores was an instant hit with viewers when it first premiered in 2016. Although many were devastated to see the show come to an end, actor Brendan Penny spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk and shared his hopes for his character.

For many fans, Chesapeake Shores came to a satisfying end as the beloved O’Brien family expanded.

After their unforgettable season four proposal, Kevin O’Brien (played by Brendan Penny) and his wife Sarah Mercer (Jessica Sipos) welcomed their son.

During the finale, the happy couple were surrounded by their family, who were admiring the baby, Mick O’Brien.

At this moment, Mick (Treat Williams) and Megan (Barbara Niven) decided to reveal they were getting married, and their nuptials took place towards the end of the episode.

While many were pleased with this happy ending for the O’Briens, fans often questioned what the family would be doing if the show continued.

Thankfully for the loyal viewers, Kevin’s Brendan Penny shared his hopes with Express.co.uk.

Speaking on his character’s fate, Brendan said: “I think he’s finished medical school and he’s a doctor.

“Whether or not they stayed in the Chesapeake area if the show continued they’d be there perhaps.

“But I think they’re just they’re going on in they’re starting their life, they’re starting their own O’Brien family.”

The actor added: “They’re raising kids and really trying to just be there for each other and go through life that way.”

This happy ending was a long time coming for Kevin who faced hardship after he was deployed three times to Afghanistan.

The series finale also ended with happiness for Abbie (Meghan Ory) and Evan (Robert Buckley) who got engaged.

During the interview with Express.co.uk, Brendan also took the time to praise his co-star Jessica Sipos.

He shared: “Jessica’s the greatest, if anyone gets an opportunity to meet her or work with her do it she’s the greatest.

“I adore her, we have a lot in common she’s married with two young kids and we just … from day one, within two minutes of meeting each other, we were laughing.

“I was like, ‘Okay, she’s cool this is gonna go well,’ and then we just became great friends.”

Brendan continued: “We never had an argument, we never had a point on set where we had to discuss what the scene was about.

“It just flowed and we respected each other and I absolutely adore her.”

Although Chesapeake Shores has come to an end, fans will be able to see Brendan back on screens in his famed rom-com roles.

The actor will return to the GREAT! Romance channel as Dash of Love and the In the Vineyard movie series will return to screens.
