Claudia Winkleman shows signs that ‘bosses weren’t happy’ after Strictly blunder

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman showcased signs that “her [BBC] bosses weren’t happy” with her after her awkward TV blunder.

During Saturday night’s live show, the 50-year-old host was left red-faced when she was forced to hand over the hosting reigns to her co-star after delivering a blow to Fleur East and Vito Coppa.

After dancing an impressive jive, things went south after the mum-of-three incorrectly informed them that they were at the top of the leaderboard before executives corrected her live on air.

Now, celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman has explained after analysing the cringeworthy moment on the BBC One ballroom show.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the expert explained how the raven-haired beauty attempted to cover up her awkward mistake on the show.

She explained: “Claudia doesn't miss a beat when she corrects herself to Fleur and Vito – she uses the exact same tone of voice and the same hand gestures and eye contact when she tells them they're actually joint second, not joint top.

“Then she makes a gag about joint second being more glamorous, and we watch her wait a second, head tilted forward, face neutral and eyes glancing sideways to see if she gets a laugh”.

The expert continued: “When everyone bursts out laughing, Claudia joins them with a broad smile for just a second, albeit one that doesn't touch her eyes – she's trying to lighten the mood, but on the inside she's still serious.

“Even though she can hear that people in the studio are sympathetic, she may still be concerned that her bosses are unhappy about the blunder”.

It was at this point that the TV star turned to contestant Will Mellor and begged him to take over the presenting role, as Claudia admitted: “I can’t do this properly”.

Inbaal noted how the doting mum needed the pause in her presenting role in order to work out whether her mistake “was a big mistake or just a little blip”

She added: “In needing to take a tiny break, she shows us that she just stepped back from her job for a moment, while finding a suitable replacement, because she needed to balance herself and gauge whether her error was a big deal or just a little blip."

Luckily the rest of the show went on without any issues as the starlet concluded the show with her co-host Tess Daly with ease.
