Matt Tebbutt was back this weekend with another instalment of his cooking show, Saturday Kitchen. He welcomed guest chefs Ellis Barrie, Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich into the kitchen to share their festive recipes. Sir Cliff Richard was also in the BBC studio where he was forced to face either his food heaven or food hell.

As Matt introduced this weekend’s line-up, he welcomed the guest chefs and Sir Cliff onto the show.

When asking the singer about his new Christmas album, Sir Cliff replied: “I have actually and it’s only been out a week and a bit.”

Matt continued: “And currently, you’re battling out in the charts, you’re sandwiched between Stormzy and Swifty.”

Discussing his age, the Mistletoe and Wine hitmaker said: “Funny thing is, I shouldn’t really be here.

“I never thought I’d age to 50 let alone 82, and all these Stormzy’s are having to compete with me.

“Whereas I thought it would be a competition between some of the new guys.

“My record is number two, and that’s without any streaming.

“The top 50 radio don’t play me, so I’m number two without any other…”

Later on in the programme, the 82-year-old aired his frustrations about the internet and online music streaming.

“It’s the thing that bugs me is that in the advent of the Internet, and then a lot of new artists coming in,” he told the host.

“Although it’s become that if you’re over the age of about 30 or 35, you don’t get the airplay.

“When I started, rock and roll and radio, hand and glove, you made your songs to be played on the radio.”

He added: “And if your record came in the charts, it played more.

“If you were number one, you were the most played person in the country, so it’s changed now in that they do definitely favour the younger generation.”

Following Sir Cliff’s appearance, many fans took to social media to comment on how youthful he looked.

While others commented on what the star had done differently to his hair.

Barrie penned: “What’s going on with Cliff Richard and his hair?

Scott W praised: “Cliff Richard is very switched on and funny for being mid-80s.”

While Liam Burns asked: “Can someone explain Cliff Richard’s hair please #saturdaykitchen.”

“Wow! Cliff Richard on Saturday Kitchen looks absolutely STUNNING. I can’t believe how young he looks and his thick head of hair. He looks about 19 but is 82!?!? B****y love our Cliff,” Shirl beamed.

Norrie added: “Cliff Richard on Saturday Kitchen. Hard to believe he is 82!”

Luke Fox went on to tweet: “It’s mad that Cliff Richard hasn’t gone grey yet.”

Saturday Kitchen airs on Saturday at 10am on BBC One.
