Coronation Street: Ryan leaving Weatherfield
During Wednesday night’s Coronation Street, fans were left devastated as Spider Nugent (played by Martin Hancock) decided to leave Weatherfield and left Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) behind.
In recent scenes, Toyah suspected Spider of cheating but in reality he was trying to decide whether to take a new undercover job and leave her behind.
After proposing to Toyah, she was kidnapped by a woman named Maggie who had a vendetta against Spider for his past actions as an undercover cop.
Knowing how much danger he had put his fiance and her family in, Spider decided it was best for him to take a step back and move away once again.
As the emotional scenes aired, viewers of the show were left “gutted” at his departure and took to Twitter to share their heartbreak.

During emotional scenes last night, Spider revealed to Toyah that to do his job to the best of his ability he needed to leave Weatherfield and start a new undercover job.
Although upset with how their relationship had ended with Spider leaving once again, Toyah was more understanding this time.
Walking to the tram station, Toyah stated: “So I guess this is it? You will be careful won’t you?”
Smiling at her caring nature still shining through, Spider expressed: “Yeah… I wish I could be the person you want me to be
“I won’t have this job forever, maybe another five years and then I can retire,” leaving Toyah to ask: “You want me to wait for you?”
Holding back his tears, Spider admitted: “It’s just tearing me apart… I have too.”
Trying to make him feel better, Toyah expressed: “I do understand, it hurts but, I do,” before Spider pulled a box out of his pocket.
Handing her the present, he told her: “I got you something… to remember me,” revealing a spider brooch and leaving Toyah to laugh: “Like I could ever forget you.”
Before saying their final goodbyes, Spider asked: “Do me a favour… next time you decide to hijack a bin lorry call me.”
Noting his sarcasm, Toyah said: “I’m really going to miss you…” before she turned and walked away, leaving Spider to walk into the tram station alone.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
