Coronation Street set to crash huge story on Billy, Paul and Todd

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has revealed that Summer (Harriet Bibby)’s three dads – Billy (Daniel Brocklebank), Paul (Peter Ash) and Todd (Gareth Pierce) – are set to continue as a team throughout 2023 and it’s going to be an interesting year for all of them. But for two of the men, in particular, there’s going to be romance.

‘Romance is in the air for two of them, but I’ll leave you to guess which pair it might be,’ he teased.

Billy has previously been in romantic relationships with Todd and Paul which came to an end in both cases, but the show sees set to revisit one of the pairings – or perhaps shake things up with Paul and Todd falling for each other? Iain wouldn’t confirm which couple he meant.

‘We’ve been back and forth for years and have picked a team,’ he told us. ‘But whatever team ends up being the couple, at the end the story will be about the three of them.’

One thing that does unite all three men is their love and concern for Summer, and this is an aspect of the story that Iain loves.

‘My Two Dads did well as a sitcom so we figured My Three Dads has got to be one better, surely!’ he laughed. ‘I love the dynamic, it feels entirely unique. I can’t think of anything like it on another soap or drama, a same sex trio parenting a troubled 19 year old girl.’

While Summer has certainly had her troubles including diabetes, an eating disorder and a pregnancy that ended in miscarriage and a lot of deception as Summer planned to give the baby away to Mike (Tom Lorcan) and Esther (Vanessa Hehir), Iain says that going forward we can expect some fun from Summer and her three dads.

‘Loads of fun,’ he said. ‘We see a lot of heart from Todd in places, and a lot of deviance in places. We crash a huge story onto one of them that causes former enemies to become best friends in secret.

‘It’s a really interesting year for all of them, and at the centre of one our biggest stories.’
