Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews, 52, confesses racy scenes leave sons mortified

Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews has admitted that her character Jenny Connor's racy scenes leave her adult sons mortified.

Since her arrival on the cobbles, Jenny has had her fair share of men, but Sally, 52, says that she has nothing to be ashamed of.

However, her two sons James, 24, and Louis, 22, have quite a bit to say about her on-screen moves with the men of the street.

Speaking to The Mirror, the soap legend admitted: "They always seem to walk through the room just when Jenny is about to snog somebody or be suggestive.

"They’ll just be passing through, and they hear my voice on screen and turn round and look and then say: ‘Jesus, mother!’ and turn round and walk out!"

Despite that, Sally is enjoying the landlady's romantic adventures on screen as she admits that she doesn't know how Jenny has the "energy" for it all as she doesn't.

However, she has said that it is important that the soap shows older women in a "positive" light and show them having "passionate" relationships.

Jenny returned to the famous street in 2015, and since then she has been with many of the Coronation Street regulars.

She first dated Kevin Webster before she married Johnny Connor, but they split after she had a fling with Ronnie Bailey.

Despite her fling, the pair always had something, and Johnny died in 2021, saving Jenny's life.

Since then, she has had brief relationships with young Leo Thompkins and newcomer Owen Longford.

While she was with Leo and Owen, Stephen Reid has always been in Jenny's mind, and she is falling back into the serial killer's arms this week.

With that in mind, Sally explained that passionate kisses are just part of the job for an actress, and she just gets "on with it."

She explained that Todd Boyce, who plays Stephen, makes it "easy," but the kissing scenes can be "very" technical to film.

While you may see Jenny and Stephen sharing a few kisses on screen, you never see what happens when they go upstairs.

Sally explained: "And while you then see us going upstairs to spend the night together, you don’t see anything else. It’s left to the imagination. No one needs to see my stretch marks!"

Jenny has been having a tough time of it lately as she has come to terms with the fact that the Rovers are struggling financially, and she has been doing all she can to find a way out of the mess.
