Coronation Street’s Cassie Plummer ‘disappears’ as son fears the worst

Coronation Street: Evelyn and Cassie

Coronation Street’s Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney) is nowhere to be found in upcoming scenes as her son fears she’s relapsed.

Earlier this month, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) discovered his biological mother was alive after being told by his grandma Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) that she was dead.

Wanting to get to know her after years apart, Tyrone decided to allow Cassie to move into the house after stating she was no longer on drugs.

However, in scenes set to air next week, it looks as though his estranged mum is up to no good as she vanishes after a day on the booze.

While in The Rovers, Cassie talks Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) into a game of gin rummy.

As she orders Dev to get the drinks in, the game quickly gets out of hand and Tyrone walks in to find her drunk with them.

Wanting to keep her away from alcohol, he drags her back home and hands her a pint of water to try and sober up.

Trying not to scold her, tells her he’s proud of how well she’s doing with her recovery, but urges her not to get off track.

Giving her £20, Tyrone asks Cassie to buy something for dinner as she assures him she won’t spend it on booze.

With Cassie out of the house, Tyrone asks Evelyn to come over and look after the girls while he goes to the dentist.

However, panic sets in when he returns home later and Cassie still isn’t back from the shop.

As Evelyn warns him to expect the worst, has Cassie blown the cash on drugs with her former dealer back in town?

Speaking about Cassie’s arrival to Express.co.uk, actress Claire Sweeney teased there’s trouble ahead.

She said: “I love Cassie, I hope the audience loves her as much as I do. She’s vulnerable, she’s troubled, she’s got loads of problems.

“As I’m reading the script, I want her to sort herself out. It’s hard for me because I’m a fan as well and as a fan, we all love Tyrone.

“You don’t want anything to upset him, do you? So I’m reading these scripts and I’m thinking, ‘Please sort yourself out Cassie’.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm
