Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman struggles to cope after second fall

Coronation Street: Ryan Connor considers online sex work

Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) is set to have another major setback with his MND as he takes another tumble, leaving him stranded.

Earlier this year, Paul was diagnosed with the incurable disease and has been trying to get on with his day-to-day life as normally as he can, with the support of his fiance Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and family.

His mother, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove), recently decided that to try and get a little extra money for her family she would help Shelly Rossington (Natalie Amber) shift some dodgy laptops.

Paul first met Shelly during a support group for MND, with Shelly already being wheelchair-bound and needing a tube to help her breathe 24/7.

Official spoilers reveal that Paul receives a letter offering an appointment with the palliative nurse, finds out about his mother’s illegal activities and has a serious accident.

In upcoming scenes, Paul struggles to walk, which Billy notices and suggests that maybe it’s time Paul tried the wheelchair.

Adamant to keep himself walking as long as he can, Paul refuses and continues his day as normally as possible.

Later, Paul realises that Bertie Osbourne (Rufus-Morgan Smith) has a new tablet and his suspicions lead him to catch Bernie sorting through a load of electronic goods, addressed to Shelly.

She explains that she is simply trying to make a bit of extra money to help buy all the equipment he is eventually going to need and help out Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly Campbell) with her payments.

Worried about his mum, Billy tells Paul about the scan and knowing that she means well, admits he is going to speak to Shelly and put a stop to it.

As Paul heads for Shelley’s flat, he trips and falls, crying out for help but soon comes to the realisation that no one is around.

Could this second incident finally make Paul realise that he needs more help and should start using the wheelchair?

Paul has already had one incident after taking his nephew Bryn Winter-Brown (Arthur Taylor) to the park, where Bryn ran off and Paul was unable to keep control.

He lay on the floor in pain, desperate to call Bryn back, but luckily Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) came to the rescue after finding Bryn and helping Paul back on his feet.

Coronation Street airs Monday Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
