Coronation Street's Simon Gregson calls ghost hunters to his Cheshire mansion after becoming convinced it's haunted | The Sun

CORONATION Street veteran Simon Gregson is convinced his house is haunted and has called in a specialist team of ghost hunters to investigate.

The actor, who plays Steve McDonald in the hit ITV soap, has signed up to the celebrity version of Help! My House Is Haunted.

Insiders said Simon, 48, was certain there was a spirit inside his home in Cheshire and that he wanted to explore it further.

A source said: “Simon is really into the paranormal and he thinks there could be a presence inside his house.

“He wanted to call in a specialist team to look into it.

“Simon has managed to get two birds with one stone though, as Discovery heard about his interest and invited him onto the show.”

Filming for the new series begins this month.

Simon, who has worked on Coronation Street for three decades, previously said he believed he had been haunted before.

The married dad-of-three said: “I love all the supernatural stuff.

“I think, to be honest with you, the reason for it is because it'd be so nice if there was something else afterwards.

“There have been some scary moments. I used to live in this flat in Cheadle a long time ago, and there was definitely something there.

“One night, we didn't go home, we were somewhere else, and one of the neighbours went absolutely mental of the fact that doors were banging, microwaves kept pinging on and off.

“George – who was my chinchilla – was living in the spare room, screamed a really high-pitched scream and they only do that when they're terrified.

“So what was he frightened of?”

Previously stars including Charlotte Crosby, Joey Essex and Martin Roberts have appeared on Celebrity Help My House Is Haunted.

Like Simon, Dancing On Ice star Joey, became convinced he was being haunted.

He said: “I feel like I've seen a ghost before anyway.

“I saw one in my house once I think – it was just sitting next to me, trying to talk to me about life.”

During Charlotte’s episode she was told her house was being haunted by family members.

She was told by TV psychic Ian Lawman: “Your house was haunted by your family ancestors, that's why you have been drawn to this house.”
