Corrie Amy star shares emotional tribute to on-screen boyfriend after sad exit

Coronation Street's Amy Barlow star Elle Mulvaney has shared a very emotional tribute to her former co-star Jack James Ryan after his departure from the cobbles.

Jack, who portrayed Jacob Hay in the ITV1 soap, has now officially left the beloved soap opera – leaving his co-stars and fans devastated.

His character, Jacob, was forced to leave the cobbles by his drug dealer dad, Damon after getting rid of a large package of cocaine when he was supposed to keep it safe.

Damon told his contacts that Jacob had stolen the drugs, which led to them threatening to hurt his girlfriend Amy – unless Jacob disappeared.

Desperate to protect his girlfriend, Jacob pretended to talk on the phone to a drug dealer so it was easier to break up with Amy before fleeing the street to protect her.

Elle Mulvaney, who portrays Amy Barlow and Jack's on-screen love interest in the hit soap opera, took to Instagram to share an unseen snap and sweet tribute on the night of his exit scenes airing.

In the snap, Elle and Jack could be seen standing beside Harriet Bibby (Summer Spellman) and James Craven (Aaron Sandford) outside Under World.

Recently the four teen characters moved into a flat together on the cobbles, which means they are now a trio.

In a very lengthy and emotional caption posed underneath the sweet snap, Elle wrote: "Goodbye, Jack James Ryan! Our best mate has officially departed the cobbles for the last time, escorted out via black cab, and we couldn’t be more gutted for us, but at the same time excited for you."

She went on to say how he is the "kindest, most talented" person and how she is proud to call him one of her best friends.

Fans were quick to flock to the comments section to air their sadness that Jack had departed "for good".

One person penned: "Awww noooo, I didn’t think this was for good. Not happy."

"My mam and I are genuinely gutted he’s left, what a talented young actor, it’s a testament to him how we all went from hating Jacob to loving him," added another.
