Coronation Street fans believe they've uncovered a secret DNA link between Summer Spellman and newcomer Esther.

Summer is preparing to sell her unborn child to Mike and his wife Esther after they talked her out of having an abortion, desperate to have a child of their own.

They've already handed over £10,000 to pay for Aaron's dad's rehab stint.

But fans believe there could be something rather darker afoot after Mike insisted on putting his own name on the birth certificate for legal purposes.

And now they think, in a shock twist, Esther could be Summer's biological mother.

Summer's birth mum is unknown to viewers after she was adopted by dad Drew Spellman, who died after relinquishing his daughter's care to Billy Mayhew.

Taking to Twitter, one eagle-eyed fan predicted: "Also could Esther be Summer’s bio mum? Been thinking we don’t know who her birth mum is #Corrie."

Someone else joked Mike and Esther have become the 'bank of mum and dad'.

They posted: "Summer’s using them as the Bank of Mum & Dad… £10k already…"

It comes as other fans have predicted Summer could be involved in an explosive custody battle.

Viewers think Mike and Esther could rescind their offer of more money and simply take Summer's baby by force.

One social media user said: "I think they will try for custody as he will be down as the dad and make her look like an unfit mum, and lie."

As another agreed: "Once he gets named on the birth certificate.The baby gets born. They apply to the courts to get full custody. She's young with health problems. They'll will claim she's incompetent. That telling look from her."

Someone else had an even darker twist in mind, suggesting they could be baby traffickers.

"Baby trafficking maybe?" one fan wondered, as another agreed: "Yep them two are definitely suspect… That baby could possibly be resold for a bigger profit."

However, spoilers have confirmed that Summer suffers a tragic miscarriage this week and is forced to hide the truth from Mike and Esther.
