Coronation Street kicks off super soap week in style tonight, as killer Stephen Reid's lies start to unfold, the show spoilers have revealed.
Last week, Carla Connor started to work out that Stephen drugged her, and made her believe that she was having a psychotic episode.
However, when she went to the police with just the proof that she had LSD in her hair, they told her that they couldn't do anything as she didn't have evidence that it was Stephen.
Carla stormed out, but DS Swain later arrived to tell her that she did think she could be onto something.
On Monday, 9 September, as a new day dawns in Weatherfield, Stephen is planning his escape from the cobbles, leaving his three dead bodies behind, but he is unaware that his neighbours are working out what he has done.
He slowly starts to realise that his time might be up, and he will be spending his final days behind bars rather than on a beach, but he is determined to make a dash for it and will not stop for anything.
Elsewhere, Carla is frustrated by what the police have said, but it isn't long before she finds a one-way ticket to Thailand printed out, and she convinces DS Swain that Stephen is a flight risk.
She then ignores the DS's advice and makes Stephen's partner, Jenny Connor, aware that the police are investigating Stephen for murder, and she tells Jenny not to run away with him.
Carla isn't the only one who is onto Stephen, as Tim Metcalfe has suspected him for months, and recently, he spotted Stephen at the river looking for something.
His suspicions grow tonight as he hears Brian Packham saying that Stephen has expressed interest in a canal dredging project.
He heads to the canal towpath and finds a discarded boat hook which he uses to start poking about in the water, and a corpse’s hand floats to the surface.
Scared, Tim rushes back to his cab to phone the police, but the phone cuts out, and before he knows it, Stephen gets in the back of the cab and tries to strangle him with a tie.
Tim manages to escape, but as he does, he trips over a shoelace, and as he gets back to his feet, he's knocked unconscious by Stephen with a brick.
At home, Tim's wife Sally is convinced that he has gone to watch the football, when really he is in the boot of his car, which is being covered in petrol by Stephen.
Has the serial killer claimed his next victim?
Calm and collected Stephen returns to the cobbles and bypasses Jenny to get a shower to get rid of the evidence, before calling the airline to confirm his flight for the next day.
However, the police are at the canal, and as they lift the roof box from the murky waters, Craig and Swain shudder as they see it contains human remains.
