Coronation Street viewers have recently started seeing a whole new side to Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain), as he’s become involved with Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis), his boss’s wife.

Aadi’s duties while working for Courtney’s husband Darren (Ryan Early) – someone Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is keen to do business with – have mainly involved acting as a chauffeur to Courtney and it didn’t take long for things to become flirtatious between them. Flirtation rapidly progressed into a sexual relationship.

Adam Hussain told us that his first reaction on hearing about this storyline was to feel ‘nervous and excited.’

‘It’s an intimate storyline and I’ve never really done anything quite like that, apart from the story involving Kelly (Millie Gibson), which was more of a sweet and innocent young love,’ he said. ‘This story takes things up a notch because it’s quite raunchy!’

To take on such a challenging storyline obviously meant that the chemistry with the other person he’d be working with was hugely important. Adam said that in Stephanie Davis the show had found the perfect person for the story.

‘I was a little worried about the chemistry between Aadi and Courtney,’ he revealed, ‘But working with Steph has quelled it. She’s been so easy to get along with and because she’s such a talented actress, it’s made the work come out great!’

While it’s been a challenge taking on this more mature storyline for Aadi, Adam told us he was enjoying exploring how his character has changed from when he first came took on the role in 2020.

‘Seeing Aadi change from a schoolboy to a young adult has been really fun,’ he said. ‘Playing him has also been a pleasure and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does next as a young and ambitious man. Aadi’s innocent demeanour has changed a lot now, especially with this storyline. He started off as young and innocent and awkward, but it’s been enjoyable watching him mature and change into this young man.’

Interestingly, Adam said that as the character gets older he’s finding more parallels between him and his father, Dev. Particularly in his younger days Dev was quite the womaniser. In 2005 his wife Sunita (Shobna Gulati), who was pregnant with twins Aadi and Asha (Tanisha Gorey), discovered that Dev had fathered children with employees at a number of his shops. Prior to that his girlfriends had included a one night stand with the icon Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride).

‘He is definitely his father’s son,’ Adam told us. ‘I think there is a side to him that can be much like Dev, I’m looking forward to exploring that and I can’t wait to see what Aadi gets up to next.’

Meanwhile, one thing he won’t be doing is watching these ‘raunchy’ scenes with his parents.

‘It’ll be a bit awkward,’ he admitted. ‘I know they’re going to watch it, they’re avid Corrie watchers but I won’t be watching it with them.’
