Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank has opened up about Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) upcoming wedding.
Billy and Paul are embracing every minute they have left with each other following Paul’s motor neurone disease diagnosis.
Most recently, Paul faced another reminder that the illness will shorten his life considerably after the death of his friend Shelley, who also had MND.
In the aftermath, Paul spoke to Todd (Gareth Pierce) and explained that he would still like to choose the moment he dies, despite telling Billy the subject of assisted dying was no longer on his mind.
Away from the upsetting side to this story, Paul and Billy are also in the middle of planning their wedding.
If successful, it will be Coronation Street’s first ever gay wedding, and Daniel Brocklebank can’t wait to watch the scenes play out.
Speaking at the CUREUsher ball last night, he told us:
‘It’s the first ever gay wedding that Corrie has had, I think they’ve had three failed lesbian weddings, and it’s going to be beautiful, that’s what I’ll tell you!’.
The CUREUsher ball was set up by the charity as well as Emmerdale stars Mark Jordon and Laura Norton. They are passionate about raising awareness for Usher syndrome after revealing their son Jesse and daughter Ronnie both have the rare genetic condition that affects both hearing and vision.
Revealing more about the next part of Billy and Paul’s storyline, Daniel said:
‘As with Corrie, there’s always a good balance of comedy and drama, so you’re definitely going to see a bit of both!’.
We can’t wait!
