Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked after watching cobbles killer Stephen Reid get mowed down by Peter Barlow (Chris Gasgoyne) in dramatic scenes.
Over the past few weeks, ITV fans have been gripped to the long-running soap desperately holding out for the cobbles killer (played by Todd Boyce) to receive the cold hand of justice. Since returning to Weatherfield in 2021, Stephen has taken the lives of Teddy and Leo Thompkins as well as business associate Rufus Donahue.

During Friday’s (October 13) hour-long episode of the ITV soap, viewers finally watched the Canadian killer meet his grisly end after causing havoc for over a year.
It didn’t take long before the drama unfolded as fans watch Stephen return to the street after he realised his passport had been stolen by his girlfriend Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews). Determined to evade capture, the businessman made the risky decision to fake a break in to the Rovers Return where he hid upstairs and waited for the former landlady to come running to its aid.
But one thing he didn’t account for was that she would be bringing back up, as his niece Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien) followed quickly behind. While the pair waited for the police to arrive, they talked through the day’s event where Jenny learnt that her boyfriend had killed three people.
Things soon took a turn for the worse when they heard a rustling noise above them, but Stephen hit Sarah over the head with a pipe before she could escape. It was at this point that Jenny attempted to talk Stephen into coming clean and handing himself into the police, but he wasn’t willing to listen to reason.
Thankfully, passers by heard the commotion going on inside the pub and were quick to rally up the residents who successfully knocked down the doors to the pub. It was at this point that Stephen was left with no choice but to leave the building with Jenny who he held a broken beer bottle to her neck.

The cobbles killer then demanded David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to give him his car as a getaway vehicle and forced Jenny to give him back his passport. In order to stop him from doing something reckless, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) came out to the street where she yet again pleaded with her son to hand himself in.
But it’s fair to say the businessman wasn’t willing to listen to reason as he walked out into the street with Jenny by his side as he made his way to David’s car. Before he let her go, viewers watched the evil killer share a few quiet words with Jenny as he dropped the bottle on the floor in defeat.
As Jenny began to walk away, Stephen turned around where he saw an enraged Peter driving full speed towards him and hit him with his car. The businessman catapulted into the air and landed hard on the cobbled street with blood leaking out onto the floor.

Peter stumbled out of the car, immediately regretting his actions just as the police arrived at the scene. While the residents discussed the traumatic event, viewers watched Stephen’s corpse being zipped up inside a body bag and being taken away by the ambulance crew.
It comes after Peter threatened to kill Stephen after he learnt that he had stolen £250,000 from Underworld. Loyal fans of the show will remember how the infuriated husband stormed over to his apartment after Carla revealed how much he had stolen from the company.
After running over Stephen with his car, fans will have to stay tuned to see how Peter will wriggle out of the arms of the police.
