Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan left the cobbles for good on Friday night, with his character Jacob Hay involved in a drug deal gone wrong with his dodgy dad Damon.
Now the actor has revealed his real reason for quitting the famous street after two years playing a character he "loved".
Jacob went from drug pushing villain to a redeemed man, falling in love with Amy Barlow and fighting to get himself a job in Underworld.

But the arrival of his dad threw his plans into chaos, and on Friday (January 13), Jacob was forced to flee with everyone thinking the worst of him.
Explaining his decision to quit, actor Jack told Daily Star and other press: "It was a really hard decision because I’ve loved the character so much.
"But I was coming up to that two year mark on the show and the conversations upstairs were very much about what I call the 'fixtures and fittings', looking at the long-haul of where the character was going to live etcetera.
"It of course was incredibly humbling, those types of conversations were just amazing. But I’m still young and there’s so much stuff I want to go and do.
"I felt I’ve come and done what I intended to do. We talk of the 'Corrie bingo card', where you tick off things that you’ve done, and I came in and played the villain, had my redemption arc.
"I punched Steve McDonald, I went to prison. I even moved into No 1 Coronation Street with Ken Barlow – so I don't know! You can’t get much better than that.
"Apart from a wedding and the tram crash, I feel like I’ve done it all in two years. So it just felt right, it felt like the right time to leave the show."

But Jack also dished on the one thing about the cobbles he won't miss – Jacob's clothing choice.
He explained: "I certainly will not miss his wardrobe, I will not miss that one bit.
"It’s funny because at the end of filming, when you finish a character and leave, the costume department says, 'Right, come in and take what you want.'
"Apart from a few keepsakes, I was like, 'You're fine, I don’t want any of it!'
"You’re not going to see me knocking about in double denim around Manchester, I’m not doing it!" the soap star revealed.
