Countdown fans have the same complaint about guest host Floella Benjamin on show's 40th anniversary | The Sun

COUNTDOWN fans had the same complaint about guest host Floella Benjamin on the show's 40th anniversary.

The Baroness has been the guest host on the Channel 4 show this week, and today marked 40 years since its first ever episode.

Floella, 73, reminded fans of the history of the show before chatting to the two players and getting the competition underway.

But as the show went on, some Countdown viewers at home were not impressed by her presenting style.

One wrote on Twitter: "Yes I’ve become a countdowner of late but I’m sorry as much as I love floella I don’t think this presenting really suits her unlike Colin ? Also miss doing teatime teaser."

Another added: "#Countdown floella sounds a bit patronising."

However others were loving her being in the host's seat, with one writing: "Baroness @FloellaBenjamin has been such a joy hosting #countdown this week. Incredible lady."

Another agreed, writing: "Floella Benjamin's great, but using Baroness when she's fronting #Countdown is a bit over the top …"

Floella is one of a number of guest hosts over the next few weeks, standing in for Colin Murray, who took over as host from Anne Robinson earlier this year.

A fan tweeted: "Much as I love Baroness Floella I’m very sad that @ColinMurray couldn’t be here to present the 40th anniversary celebrations."

Countdown airs weekdays at 2.10pm on Channel 4.
