The second hour-long Conservative leadership debate aired on ITV on Sunday, with the five remaining candidates wanting to become the next Prime Minister. The candidates include Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Kemi Badenoch, Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat. While the debate was watched by 2.7 million viewers, BBC’s Countryfile trumped it by drawing in 3 million viewers.
Andrew Neil shared the figures on Twitter, penning: “ITV’s Tory leadership debate at 7pm last night. Watched live by an average of 2.7m over the hour. Beaten only by Countryfile on BBC1.”
