Damon horrifies scared Leanne and Nick with his next move after Corrie shooting

A shot rang out in tonight’s Coronation Street, as armed men burst into the bistro terrifying Ryan (Ryan Prescott) – and young Sam (Jude Riordan), who’d gone in looking for Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne (Jane Danson).

Nick was uneasy even at the start of the episode, knowing that drugs were being stashed at the bistro. He rang Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) to try to get him to move the stuff, but Damon told him he’d have to hold on to it for another day.

Nick’s fear was that the police could once again raid the premises and this time they’d find something. He knew that it was dangerous having the drugs around, but he wasn’t prepared for exactly how dangerous things could get.

Soon after, he got a call from a terrified Sam, who was hiding under a table at the bistro.

As Nick took the call, he realised that Sam was in terrible danger as men with guns had burst into the place and were demanding that Ryan hand over the drugs. Even as Nick was talking to his son, he heard a gun go off.

Nick, Leanne and Damon raced to the scene, and Damon tackled the gunman to the ground as Leanne and Nick races to protect Sam and Ryan and the restaurant’s customers cowered in fear of their lives.

Luckily nobody was hurt. The two masked men escaped and the police soon arrived to question the witnesses. Nick – having been told by Damon to ‘keep your mouth shut and your head down’ – didn’t have much to say to the police.

When they asked him about Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan) previously being employed at the bistro it soon became clear that they knew Damon was his father. Again, Nick feigned ignorance.

Later, Damon tried to reassure a panicky Nick. He told him the masked men were from the ‘competition,’ but the situation was now ‘sorted.’

Unfortunately for Nick that wasn’t the end of the matter and things are far from sorted as Damon told him he’d have to keep hold of the drugs at his flat until the situation had calmed down. ‘A few hours and you’re home free. I’m out of your hair for good,’ he promised.

Nick had no option but to agree, but when he told Leanne that the drugs were in the flat she was terrified. Having seen the lengths that people would go to to get their hands on the drugs, the thought of having them in the same flat where Sam was trying to recover from his ordeal was horrific.

There was a spark of hope when Damon arrived – perhaps he’d come to take the drugs off their hands? But he’d brought a gift for Sam and the grim news that they need to hang on to the package for a while longer.

Leanne and Nick were left feeling absolutely helpless. ‘We can’t let him do this!’ she said. ‘So what are we going to do?’ he asked her.

Ben Price told us recently that Leanne and Nick eventually come up with a plan to try to get themselves out of this situation.

‘She realises they’re both in this together and they need to get out of it. So she jumps straight in then they start formulating a plan to get themselves out of this,’ he told us.

What will they decide to do? And could it result in even more danger for their family?
