Big Brother icon Davina McCall has recalled one awkward moment while hosting the show almost two decades ago that left fans "staring at her vagina".

The beloved television star will forever be associated with the show, even though she left in 2010 after 13 series.

But she has remembered one particularly unfortunate moment in Big Brother 6 that gave everyone in the audience an eyeful.

Back in 2005, when bikini lover Sam Heuston was evicted, Davina took the interview into her own hands and gave everyone – including bosses – a big surprise.

She decided to nip off and get changed into a bikini and cover it up with a glossy black trench coat, keeping it a secret from everyone apart from the producer.

So, as Sam's exit interview began, Davina stripped off, complaining that she was a bit hot.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Davina said: "I stood up and took off my coat and the cameraman who was filming me went like that (looking out at her) from behind his camera in case something was wrong with his camera."

The plan went well, but Davina has confessed she hadn't thought it through completely.

She added: "I felt quite confident and I had forgotten that I had to stand up at the end of the interview and everyone was in the circle around me underneath, staring up my arse and at my vagina from the front.”

“It was vagina level and I had my cards here over my vajayjay thinking, ‘oh this is quite, like brutal’- just trying to do the end piece to the cameras as quickly as possible.”

Big Brother is finally returning to screens this year after a five-year break, this time on ITV instead of Channel 4 or Channel 5.

Also known as Big Brother 20, the refreshed series will be hosted by both AJ Odudu and Will Best and will launch in October.
