Death in Paradise will be returning for season 12 in January 2023 with DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) leading the Saint Marie team. Until the hit comedy-drama does return to the small screen for new episodes, fans are reliving some of their favourite episodes which are being shown on BBC One. The next episode to get another timeslot is season seven, episode two, The Stakes Are High.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Death in Paradise.

Death in Paradise’s The Stakes are High revolves around a prestigious poker tournament that takes place on the island.

Contestants are in with a chance of winning the £3million jackpot but one of the players, Bobby Rodriguez (Nigel Whitmey) is poisoned, and it appears to have been done through the cards, even though the rest of the participants are unharmed.

In the early stages of the investigation, it is thought that his closest rival, cocky young Ray Campbell (Theo Barklem-Biggs) is the prime suspect.

But could Ray have really been capable of murder in order to win the extravagant prize?

Who is Death in Paradise star Theo Barklem-Biggs?

Death in Paradise guest star Ray Campbell is played by 32-year-old actor Theo Barklem-Biggs.

His career first begun in 2008 when he appeared in an episode of The Bill as Carl Regis.

Since then, Barklem-Biggs has been in EastEnders, The Fades, Tatau, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Cleaning Up, White Gold and The F1rst Team.

Barklem-Biggs most well-known role to date has been as Jake Milner in the legal drama Silk, opposite Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones.

In Silk, Jake is a junior clerk and Billy Lamb’s (Neil Stuke) nephew and hopes that the youngster will one day be his successor.

Last year, Barklem-Biggs was also Ricky in the hit Dave sitcom Sliced, with BAFTA-nominated Samson Kayo.

But BBC viewers will probably best recognise him from the current drama playing out every Sunday night, SAS Rogue Heroes.

The Death in Paradise actor is behind Reg Seekings, an SAS sergeant major who was one of the first members to join the Special Air Service.

According to the chair of Stuntney Village Council, Seekings has since been recognised with new street signs in his home village of Ely.

She told the Ely Standard: “His dangerous missions during the war earned him very prestigious gallantry awards.

“It is with great pride that we see one of our locals remembered; he is very well-decorated and is one of our claims to fame.”

Reg was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal when he was one of two survivors, after a truck carrying 24 of his platoon was hit by a mortar round in Italy in 1943.

So far, there has been no confirmation on when Death in Paradise will be back for season 12.

The only detail known is that the series will be making a comeback sometime in 2023.

There will also be the spin-off Beyond Paradise, starring actor Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, to look forward to next year.

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
