DJ Mighty Mouse dead – Music producer Matthew Ward dies of aneurysm at his Spanish home as pals pay tribute | The Sun

DJ Mighty Mouse has died "suddenly" at his home in Spain.

The artist, real name Matthew Ward, is understood to have suffered an aortic aneurysm.


UK label Defected Records said the musician died last Thursday – leaving his fans and loved ones devastated.

A post said: "We are devastated to confirm that Matthew Ward aka Mighty Mouse, died suddenly last Thursday at his home in Spain.

“We are all lost without his enormous presence and talent.

“Our thoughts are with his partner, Ellen, and his Mum, Judy, as well as his wider family and many, many friends and fans.

Ward has been hailed as an "amazing musical talent" in tributes following his death.

Fellow DJ Simon Dunmore said: "Sending love & condolences to Matthew’s family & friends. RIP Mighty Mouse."

Musician Lee Mortimer, known as Friend Within, wrote: "Such sad news.

DJ Jason Dee added: "Saw him in Sydney in 2019 supporting Late Nite Tuff Guy and he was excellent.

"He played his remix of Abba and it rocked the place.

"This was long before his edit was heavily supported the world over."

Producer Paul Ridney posted: "Absolutely devastated to learn our incredibly talented friend Mighty Mouse has sadly passed.

"I've personally had the honour and great pleasure of working with Matt both as a DJ and a remixer.

"I'm sincerely grateful for his wisdom, generosity and his support."

Ward had posted on social media on October 17, just days before his death, about a new release.

He wrote on Instagram: "I got a new remix out (on all platforms).

"Loads of ace support and it goes down really well in the club."

According to Ward's website, he was due to DJ at The Lofts in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Saturday.

Heartbroken fans have described his death as a "huge loss".

One said: "Met him and had a chat after his set in Adelaide a few years ago. Such a lovely bloke. Rest in peace mate."
