DCI Keeble is hellbent on making Billy Mitchell pay for the murder of her father in the 1970s.

But EastEnders fans were left scratching their heads after noticing a blunder during his arrest in the Queen Vic.

BBC One has been airing some intense scenes of the long-running soap as Samantha Keeble's vendetta against the Mitchells was finally explained.

The detective played by Alison Newman tried to pressure Phil Mitchell (portrayed by soap star Steve McFadden) into giving her information on his cousin Billy.

Stunned by her request, due to the fact Billy keeps a reasonable distance from the criminal world, Phil demanded to know why she'd go after him.

It was then revealed that Samantha Keeble is getting payback for a VHS robbery gone wrong in the 1970s – which led to her security guard father being murdered by Phil's father Eric, with Billy as a witness.

But there's worse – Billy actually supplied the gun that was used during the robbery, making him an accessory to murder.

The market trader was arrested while in the Vic during last night's trip to Albert Square but BBC One viewers had one major complaint about Keeble's actions.

One soap fan pointed out a blunder amid Billy's arrest on social media and questioned whether she'd even be able to investigate on her own father's murder.

"Really Keeble?", they asked, "she knows he's innocent. Also is she allowed to investigate her own Dad's murder?"

Another wrote: "Keeble knows Billy didn't kill anyone, all this to get Phil? Yet another dodgy copper on the Square."

"Poor Billy. His kids especially shouldn't have had to see that", a third fan commented.

They then added: "He literally should have just left the second Phil told him to. Also isn't Keeble investigating the murder of her own Dad a total conflict of interest? She could easily plant evidence to get justice."

Last night, Phil tried to get himself out of the mess he had embarked on, particularly after giving Keeble a statement about Billy being involved in the robbery and sourcing the gun.

Phil felt his hands were tied and he had to give up his own cousin to the police due to Keeble's threat to ruin his and Kat Slater's life.

After trying to outsmart the detective, the Walford tough guy resorted to trying to get Billy to leave the country by telling him he needed him to sort out a property deal in Portugal.

Billy refused, wanting to be a part of Phil's upcoming nuptials to Kat Slater.

But when Phil told him what was going on – without admitting he had grassed on him – Billy made his way to the Vic to say goodbye to Honey.

Sadly, Billy didn't go very far from the Square as he was stopped in his tracks by Freddie Slater, who is adamant he's his son, and Samantha Keeble had time to catch up with him.

Billy was carted away in front of his family and many Walford residents.
