One EastEnders star has shared their annoyance after BBC bosses wrote them out of the long-running show.

Over the past few years, Louise Jameson has become known for her role as Mary Goskirk in Emmerdale. But before she joined the ITV soap, she was quite the regular on Albert Square.

Although the soap star has swapped the Queen Vic for the Woolpack, it seems that her departure from Walford wasn’t quite as amicable as she had hoped. In a chat with Inside Soap, the 72-year-old explained how frustrated she was when she was axed from the show.

She stated: “I was annoyed about the way it was announced. I was only told the night before it appeared in the papers. I thought they could have run it by me first so I could tell my family. It wasn’t respectful.”

Louise left the BBC soap after two years in Albert Square where she portrayed the role of Rose Di Marco. Part of the Italian Di Marco family, Louise’s character was introduced to viewers back in 1998.

The family of eight included grandparents Bruno and Luisa, daughter-in-law Rosa and her children Beppe, Gianni, Teresa and Nicky, and Beppe’s young son Joe, were dubbed as the “family that would rival the Mitchells.”

Ruled by the matriarch Rosa, the family ran an Italian restaurant called Guiseppe’s. The character’s non-stop drama catapulted actors Michael Greco, Marc Bannerman, Leila Birch and Carly Hillman to new heights.

Since her stint on the square, the soap star has made a huge impression on viewers when she took on the role of Rhona’s mother in the Dales. Loyal fans of the show will know her character has come on leaps and bounds since she first arrived in the village.

Her character Mary gripped viewers with her emotional storyline when the TV favourite revealed she’s a lesbian. The Sun previously revealed how the former Doctor Who star has had her Emmerdale contract renewed.

This means that fans will see Mary on their screens well into the new year. Speaking about her new deal with the ITV soap, Louise said: “I’ve just signed for another year.

“So I'm definitely there until January 2024. In my head I'm thinking maybe a couple of years after that, maybe a three or four year stint.”

It comes after Lisa Riley revealed her secret second job on the ITV set. The 47-year-old actress has played Mandy Dingle on the soap since 2001, but that’s not the only role she has on the show.

Lisa said her castmates come to her for support and advice when they’re going through tough times. And she's the best Emmerdale star to talk to when it comes to grief, because the actress has lost both of her parents, meaning she knows a thing or two about how to cope with the pain.
