EastEnders fans believe Sam Mitchell is set to remain in Albert Square after her son Ricky learned he is set to become a dad.

The trouble maker has been boasting about her imminent move to Germany with Billy, but during tonight’s episode she discovered her son was expecting a child with 12-year-old Lily Fowler.

As Sam and Ricky jr bonded over what happens next, Ricky begged his mum not to go to Germany, hoping she would be there for him when the baby comes.

Now fans believe her plan to elope will be thwarted, as she finally steps up and becomes a real mum to her son.

“I knew Ricky would ask Sam to stay. Come on Sam, this is your time to finally be the mum Ricky wants and needs you to be,” said one viewer.

Another agreed: “No doubt Sam will stay now for Ricky as she doesn't really like the Ricky she is dating just using him.”

While a third added: “Ricky evidently has mother/abandonment issues. Sam needs to cancel moving to Germany…”

The wine bar manager, as viewers know, has told former husband Ricky Butcher that she’ll move to Germany and start a new life with him, following their reunion last year.

12-year-old Ricky jr was informed that he was going to be a dad by Lily, who was adamant that he needed to hear it from her before word spread.

Ricky was taken aback and confided in Sam, who missed her shot at proving supportive by revealing that she’s leaving for Germany.

Unable to stop thinking about what her son had told her, Sam relayed the news to Jack and Denise Fox who wasted little time in confronting the Slaters and demanding answers.

Sam, meanwhile, spotted a forlorn Ricky jr in McKlunkeys and told him that he’s better off without her, commenting that Jack and Demise are great parents.

Ricky, however, pleaded with her not to go, asking her to stay and support him when he needs her the most.
